The Wall
Roger Waters' magnum opus of self-pity and spectacle, The Wall transformed a bassist's mental breakdown into rock's most lavish prisoner's complaint. Born from Waters spitting at a fan, this double album traces Pink's collapse through Brechtian anthems and Ezrin-gilded bombast, its fascist rallies and catatonic ballads soundtracking a generation's adolescent alienation.
Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 became their only number one single, proving millions shared Waters' teacher-loathing resentments. Whether profound meditation on isolation or rock star navel-gazing writ stadium-sized, it remains monumentally inescapable.
