Boleros Psicodélicos
Released
2022
Adrian Quesada's debut solo outing channels the smoky romance of classic boleros through a Farfisa-laced prism of psychedelic cumbia and library funk. The Black Pumas co-founder plays nearly everything himself across eleven instrumental tracks that sound like lost soundtracks from 1970s Mexican cinema, all wah-wah guitars and swirling organs drenched in reverb.
It's a love letter to Latin America's experimental past that never feels like pastiche, bridging Austin's thriving Chicano music scene with the golden age of Discos Fuentes and beyond.
