Thom Yorke's third solo album arrives with Paul Thomas Anderson's accompanying Netflix film, the marriage of anxious electronics and surreal choreography making explicit what Radiohead often implied. Produced with Nigel Godrich, these nine tracks push modular synthesizers and fractured beats against Yorke's processed vocals, conjuring the particular dread of scrolling through catastrophe at 3am.
Tracks like "Last I Heard (...He Was Circling the Drain)" and "Twist" don't so much critique modern disconnection as inhabit its nervous system, each pulse and glitch a vital sign from our collective malaise.
